Curriculum
Inside the Water Damage Restoration course
6 self-paced lessons, then a 10-question exam — 75% to pass, unlimited retries.
- 1
Lesson 1: Water Categories - Identifying the Contamination Level
The first decision on any water loss is classifying the water's contamination level, because it dictates PPE, handling, and whether materials can be saved. Industry standard recognizes three categories.
- 2
Lesson 2: Classes of Water - Estimating the Drying Challenge
While category describes contamination, class describes how much water the structure has absorbed and how hard it will be to dry. Class drives the size of your drying system - how many air movers and dehumidifiers you need.
- 3
Lesson 3: Moisture Inspection and Mapping
You cannot dry what you cannot measure. Moisture inspection establishes the full extent of migration, sets drying goals, and creates the baseline you measure progress against.
- 4
Lesson 4: Building the Drying Plan with Psychrometry
Drying is controlled evaporation. To accelerate it you manage four factors, often summarized as temperature, airflow, humidity, and evaporation. Warm air holds more moisture and speeds evaporation, air movers pull moisture out of wet materials into the air, and dehumidifiers pull that moisture back out of the air so evaporation can continue.
- 5
Lesson 5: Documentation and Monitoring
Documentation proves the job was done right, justifies the invoice to insurers, and protects you in disputes. Restoration is paid on evidence, not effort.
- 6
Lesson 6: Safety, PPE, and Hazard Control
Water losses combine biological, electrical, and structural hazards. Safety decisions follow directly from the water category and a hazard assessment done before entry.
