Terms of Service

Effective July 1, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to niscr.com and your enrollment in NISCR's online certification courses. Please read them carefully — by using the site or enrolling, you agree to these terms.

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and NISCR (the National Institute for Service, Certification & Restoration — “NISCR,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of niscr.com and our enrollment, course, exam, and certification services (the “Services”). By accessing the site or enrolling in a course, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Who may use the Services

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to enroll. You agree to provide accurate information — including your legal name, which will appear on your certificate — and to keep it current.

What a NISCR certificate is (and is not)

NISCR issues a Certificate of Completion: a private, professional credential confirming that you completed a NISCR course and passed its examination. It is verifiable online through a unique certificate ID and is valid for 24 months, with a renewal path before it expires.

A NISCR Certificate of Completion confirms completion of NISCR training and examination. It is a professional credential, not a government license. Where local law requires a license to perform a service, the technician is responsible for obtaining it.

In other words, a NISCR certificate is not a government license, accreditation, or permit, and it does not authorize you to perform work that your state or locality regulates. You are responsible for confirming and meeting the licensing and legal requirements that apply to your work. Licensing rules change and vary by city and county. Always confirm current requirements with your state licensing board before performing work.

Enrollment, accounts, and access

When you enroll, we create an account tied to the email you provide. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Accounts and course access are personal to you and may not be shared, sold, or transferred. Courses are delivered online and are self-paced; access is granted after your payment is completed.

Pricing and payment

Course and bundle prices are shown in U.S. dollars and are charged at checkout through our payment processor, Stripe. By enrolling, you authorize the charge shown at checkout. You are responsible for any taxes that apply. We may change our prices at any time, but changes do not affect purchases you have already completed.

Refunds

Purchases are eligible for a refund under our Refund & Cancellation Policy — in short, a full refund within 3 days of purchase, provided you have not started the final exam or been issued a certificate. Please see that policy for the full terms.

Exams and certificates

Each course includes a final examination. The pass mark is 75%, with retries available so the standard is held without unfairly blocking you. Your certificate is issued once you pass (or, for any completion-only course, once you finish all lessons). You agree not to cheat, use unauthorized assistance, or attempt to obtain a certificate by fraud. We may withhold or revoke a certificate obtained through fraud or in violation of these Terms.

Honest use of your credential

You may display and share a certificate you have earned, but you must represent it honestly — as a NISCR Certificate of Completion, never as a government license or as authorization you do not hold. You may not alter a certificate or misrepresent its scope, issue date, or validity.

Acceptable use

When using the Services, you agree not to:

  • Use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Share, resell, or provide access to your account, courses, or exams to anyone else.
  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our course content, except as needed for your own personal training.
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the site, take exams, or collect data.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its security, or other users’ accounts.

Intellectual property

All content on niscr.com — including courses, lessons, exams, text, graphics, the NISCR name and logo, and the certificate design — is owned by NISCR or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the content you purchase for your own training. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Third-party services

We rely on third-party services to operate — including Stripe (payments), Supabase (data and accounts), and Google (analytics and advertising). Your use of the Services may be subject to those providers’ terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

No warranties

The Services and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Our courses are educational; they are not professional, legal, safety, or engineering advice, and we do not warrant that they will make you eligible for any license, job, or specific result. Illustrative ranges — actual earnings vary by location, effort, and experience, and are not guaranteed. You are responsible for performing your work safely and in compliance with all applicable laws and standards.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NISCR and its owners, employees, and providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, arising out of or relating to your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid to NISCR for the course or bundle giving rise to the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NISCR from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of another.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute relating to the Services will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New Hampshire, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing anything, please contact us — most issues can be resolved quickly by email.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you violate these Terms or misuse the Services. You may stop using the Services at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date above. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy, are the entire agreement between you and NISCR regarding the Services.
